Taittinger Brut La Française is the signature non-vintage Champagne of the Taittinger family house in Reims, here in a 375ml half bottle and bottled at 12.5% ABV.
It has a high proportion of Chardonnay, 40%, with 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier, blended with about 30% reserve wines.
It ages for three to four years on the lees in the house's cellars, longer than required, giving it finesse and depth.
In the glass it shows citrus, nectarine and orchard fruit, with brioche, hazelnut and a hint of white pepper, light, elegant and fresh.
The half bottle is perfect for two, for a picnic or a quiet celebration.
Champagne can only come from the Champagne region of north-eastern France, and it gains its bubbles from a second fermentation in the bottle, the traditional method. Non-vintage cuvées are blended from several harvests so that each house can keep its signature style consistent from year to year, and they rest on their lees for at least fifteen months before release.

How to Enjoy It
Serve Taittinger Brut La Française well chilled, at around 8 to 10°C, in a tulip or white wine glass. A half bottle chills quickly: an hour or two in the refrigerator, or about fifteen minutes in an ice bucket filled with ice and water, is enough. Open it gently, holding the cork and turning the bottle, so the fine bubbles stay in the glass. Its Chardonnay-led elegance makes it a superb aperitif with gougères or salted almonds, and it pairs beautifully with oysters, sushi, scallops, white fish and soft cheeses.
