Tanteo Navidad is a small-batch añejo tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave in Jalisco, aged in oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Tanteo is an artisanal, small-batch tequila brand from Jalisco, best known for its hand-infused expressions made with real jalapeño, habanero and chipotle peppers. The Navidad is its añejo, a well-made sipping tequila from a craft-focused producer.
Time in oak develops a smooth, rounded character, with warm oak and vanilla over the bright agave base. On the palate come cooked agave, vanilla, oak and a touch of caramel, and the finish is smooth and warm.
With its festive name and colourful label, it makes a cheerful holiday gift.
Sip it neat or over a large cube.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Añejo tequila is aged at least one year in oak barrels no larger than 600 litres, giving it a deeper colour and richer flavour than a reposado.
