Telmont Vinothèque 2012 is a late-released vintage Champagne from Champagne Telmont of Damery, held back in the house's cellar library before release.
A long, rainy winter was salvaged by generous summer sun, producing a vintage that is exceptional in quality and limited in quantity.
The nose reveals toasted bread with dried and baked fruits, leaning toward almond and citrus.
The first sip is brisk, softened by vanilla, followed by an explosion of luscious pear and a silky finish of fresh almonds and grapefruit.
Founded in 1912, Telmont is a family-rooted house in the Marne Valley that farms organically and has set out to reduce its environmental footprint. Its Vinothèque releases give Champagne lovers the chance to taste a mature vintage at its peak, with the nuance and splendour that only long cellar ageing can bring.
Champagne can only come from the Champagne region of north-eastern France, and it gains its bubbles from a second fermentation in the bottle, the traditional method. Non-vintage cuvées are blended from several harvests so that each house can keep its signature style consistent from year to year, and they rest on their lees for at least fifteen months before release.

How to Enjoy It
Serve chilled, around 10 to 12°C, in a white-wine glass so the mature aromas can open. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, scallops, lobster, mushroom dishes and aged Comté. Store the bottle on its side in a cool, dark place. A bottle of this standing makes a memorable gift for a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a wedding or a promotion.
