Templeton Rye 13 Year Old is the inaugural release of The Hidden Stash Collection, a limited series drawn from Templeton's rarest aged barrels. Launched in 2025, it is the oldest whiskey Templeton has ever released, a straight rye from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, matured in heavily charred new American oak and bottled at 108 proof.
Templeton takes its name from the small town of Templeton in Carroll County, Iowa, which became famous for its rye whiskey during Prohibition. Thirteen years in heavily charred oak gives this release remarkable depth while keeping rye's signature spice.
On the nose, sweet, spicy rye with candied orange zest. The palate is warm and full, with sweet chipotle spice giving way to citrus, and the long finish brings honey up front and caramel at the back.
The handsome bottle comes in a deep green Hidden Stash gift box with botanical artwork, making it a superb gift for rye lovers.
At 108 proof, a few drops of water bring out the fruit and caramel.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
