Ten To One Five Origin Select is an aged Caribbean rum blended from five origins, Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Guyana, and bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
Ten To One was founded by Trinidad-born Marc Farrell with the aim of modernizing rum and moving away from the pirates-and-plantations stories that have shaped so many rum brands. Inspired to create the ultimate sipper, the team blended exceptional column and pot still rums from four islands and nations around an extraordinary anchor: an 11- to 15-year-old Guyanese demerara rum distilled on the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still.
That still traces back to Guyana's Port Mourant Estate, founded in 1732, and it is the last of its kind still in operation. Its rum is known for bold flavors and aromas and a rich ester content, and it gives the blend a long, clean finish. The green of the label pays homage to the Guyanese flag. Five Origin Select is a permanent part of the range, released in smaller quantities through the year.
On the nose come crème brûlée, hazelnut, baking spice, orange zest and stewed stone fruits. The palate brings cacao, vanilla, peppercorn, rich toffee, hazelnut, ginger and crisp apple, layered and generous at full strength.
