Tenjaku is a blended whisky from Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture, a blend of three-, five- and six-year whiskies bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Tenjaku is the Japanese name for the skylark, the much-loved herald of spring; like the clear, exquisite song of a small bird, the whisky has an agreeably pure, mellow flavor. It is made in Fuefuki, in the eastern Kofu Basin, a fertile land encircled by the Chichibu mountains to the north and the Misaka range to the south, looking toward Mt. Fuji. All water is drawn from 250 meters below the Misaka mountains and filtered through volcanic rock for a velvety-smooth texture and moderate mineral content. Blender Kenji Watanabe follows a philosophy of being generous with time for one's craft.
