Tequila Ocho Single Estate Añejo Las Raíces 2024 is a single barrel, cask-strength añejo made entirely from agave grown in the Las Raíces field and bottled at 54.5% ABV (109 proof).
Tequila Ocho pioneered single-estate tequila, naming each release for the field its agave came from and the year it was made, so that every bottling expresses a specific terroir. This barrel-proof single barrel goes further, bottling one cask at full strength rather than the standard 80 proof, for a more intense and robust agave experience.
An añejo must rest at least one year in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, which lends caramel, vanilla and spice to the agave, and at cask strength those flavours come through with extra depth and texture.
The single-barrel label makes it a prized gift for tequila collectors.
Add a few drops of water to open it up.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
