For the 2023 edition, the distillery turned to port: some of the most prized casks in its warehouse held Colheita port, single-harvest tawny port aged for many years in wood before bottling, including a pipe that once held Graham's 1982 single harvest port.
The whisky matured for 30 years principally in ex-bourbon casks, which lay down a foundation of vanilla, honey and soft oak. It was then finished in the Colheita port pipes, which add dark fruit, chocolate and a gentle nuttiness. It is bottled at 43.8% ABV, a little above the standard strength, giving the whisky extra weight and a long finish.
