Riveter Rye is a small-batch, five-year-old straight rye whiskey distilled, aged and bottled by The Distillarium in Yakima, Washington, and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Forged in oak and built to fly, Riveter takes off on mechanized wings, with a steel eagle on its label. It is crafted from a distinctive fusion of Washington rye and malted barley: a mash bill of 95% Gazelle rye and 5% malted barley. The spirit spends five years in American oak and is non-chill filtered, so it keeps its full body and natural texture. It is a Double Gold winner and earned 94 points from Wine Enthusiast.
The Distillarium sits in Yakima, on the same parallel as Bordeaux, where the valley's climate and soil give its grain a true expression of place. The distillery was founded on the principles of patience, and the five years Riveter spends in the barrel show it.
Classically known for its peppery bite, it opens with baking spice, toasted oak and warm caramel. The palate is rich and peppery, with praline, nutmeg, vanilla, dried fruit and toffee, and the finish is long and warming, with a spicy, slightly sweet afterglow.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
