The M Collection was created to showcase The Macallan's Six Pillars, the principles behind the distillery's whisky making. M Copper is the collection's ode to the Curiously Small Stills, the compact copper stills The Macallan kept when much of the industry moved to larger ones. The distillery credits those small stills with the rich, robust spirit at the heart of its whisky, and the copper tone of the decanter reflects them directly.
Creative director Fabien Baron worked with the French crystal house Lalique on the decanter design, which carries six facets in reference to the Six Pillars. M Copper is matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks and bottled at 42% ABV with 100% natural colour, so the amber in the glass comes entirely from the wood. On the palate, The Macallan describes a buttery, viscous mouthfeel with fruity character and a hint of sweet malt. The decanter is presented in a sculptural black case that keeps it protected and on display.
