The Sassenach Fine Scottish Vodka is a premium vodka from Sam Heughan's Sassenach Spirits, distilled at the Galloway Distillery in southwest Scotland from a blend of three spirits made from wheat, brambles and apples, and bottled at 84 proof (42% ABV).
Sassenach, a word of Scottish Gaelic origin from around the 1700s meaning outsider or stranger, is the spirits brand founded by Scottish actor Sam Heughan, built on his emotional connection to Scotland's wild glens, rugged moors and deep lochs. After The Sassenach whisky and, in 2023, The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin, the vodka arrived in 2025, the result of a mission to truly define Scotland within the purity of a vodka.
That mission pushed the distillers to look beyond the fields of grain, to the dry stone dykes covered in brambles that line them and the apple trees so common in Scotland. Wheat, brambles and apples are each fermented and then distilled several times to create three unique, pure spirits, which are carefully blended into one.
The result respects the purity of classic vodka while singing of Scotland: the elegance of wheat combines with brambles in a luxurious, enveloping texture that only whispers of its fruit on entry, balanced by a subtle apple brightness.
