Tierra Noble Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from La Estacada, which lays claim to being the highest modern distillery in the world at 7,200 feet in Jalisco's Sierra del Tigre, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Tierra Noble is made with passion by the Herrera family at La Estacada (NOM 1558), just outside the mountain town of Mazamitla, a place of cool forests, clean air and pure mountain water. The family sources 8- to 10-year-old blue agaves from small farmers in Los Altos and the Valley of Tequila and double distills in elongated custom stainless steel pot stills designed to enhance floral notes. Uniquely, it achieves a secondary malolactic fermentation, more common in Chardonnay than spirits, which brings surprising buttery notes.
Aged in American white oak barrels for up to 12 months in cold barrel rooms, the reposado is gilt straw in color, bright and clean. The nose is complex with a hint of vanilla, mint, citrus and toasted almonds, and the balance of agave and gentle American oak builds a reposado of great presence.
The tall bottle with its blue wax top makes an elegant gift.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
