Tita Doña Celia Edition is a limited-edition 100% agave añejo tequila from Jalisco, matured 12 months and presented in a hand-painted ceramic Catrina bottle. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 375ml size.
The Catrina comes from an etching made around 1910 to 1913 by José Guadalupe Posada, "La Calavera Catrina," originally known as "La Calavera Garbancera," created as a satirical image. Today she is an icon of Mexican folklore and the Day of the Dead, and Doña Celia adapts her into a one-of-a-kind tequila package: a ceramic doll in a red dress, hand painted, with a high-quality tequila inside.
The añejo opens with rich, fruity aromas of vanilla and cooked agave. The palate shows complex notes of charred agave blended with caramel and hazelnut, leading to a sweet finish.
It is a collector's piece and an unforgettable gift for Día de los Muertos, birthdays or anyone who loves Mexican folk art.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
