Tita Doña Celia Reposado is a 100% agave tequila aged six months in American white oak, presented in a hand-painted ceramic Catrina bottle and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 375ml size.
The bottle depicts La Catrina, one of the most famous images in Mexican popular culture, from José Guadalupe Posada's etching La Calavera Catrina, created around 1910 to 1913 and originally known as La Calavera Garbancera, a satirical image. Here she is reimagined as Doña Celia, a woman of the tequila trade. The tequila inside is made by Destiladora del Valle de Tequila from agave grown in Los Altos and the Tequila Valley; the 100% blue Weber agave is cooked for 48 to 60 hours, double distilled in stainless pot stills, proofed with deep well water and rested six months in American white oak.
A traditionally made reposado, it is smooth, with rich agave, oak and warm vanilla.
The hand-painted Catrina makes it a collectible gift, perfect for Día de los Muertos.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
