Tokyo Nights Japanese Vodka is made in Japan from local cane sugar molasses, distilled three times, filtered four times through birch charcoal and infused with yuzu before bottling. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Tokyo Nights is a range of Japanese spirits from independent distilleries, each chosen for the quality of its ingredients and the Japanese know-how that has made Tokyo the vibrant metropolis it is; the label shows Shibuya, Tokyo's busiest district. It comes from BBC Spirits, founded in Bordeaux in 2010 by Bogdan Tonasiou and Bertrand Fradin, which partners with distilleries around the world.
The molasses base immediately immerses the spirit in Japanese tradition. The third distillation and four filtrations through birchwood charcoal give it clarity and an exceptionally smooth texture. Then comes one more step: a hint of yuzu, the fragrant East Asian citrus. Not so much that it becomes a flavored vodka, but just enough for the essence of yuzu to linger.
Clean and ultra-smooth throughout, it carries a whisper of bright, exotic yuzu on the nose and through the finish, with a silky mouthfeel and soft spice.
BBC Spirits began as a wine exporter and soon grew into the distribution of spirits across virtually every category, and ultimately into creating its own brands, selling into more than thirty countries. Today it partners with some 15 distilleries around the world, making everything from whisk(e)y, rum, gin and tequila to shochu, sake, brandy and absinthe, and Tokyo Nights brings that network to Japan.
