Town Branch True Cask is a small-batch, uncut Kentucky straight bourbon from Town Branch Distillery in Lexington, bottled straight from the barrel at cask strength of 109.2 proof (54.6% ABV).
True Cask embodies attention to detail at every stage of production, from distillation, mash bill, yeast and fermentation to cooperage and the final small-batch blend of uncut whiskey drawn straight from the barrel. It blends multiple bourbon mash bills, and each batch is individually numbered, with its exact proof called out to the decimal on the label. Town Branch opened in 2012 across from Lexington Brewing Co. as the first new distillery built in Lexington in more than 100 years, and it is part of Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co.
It offers a traditionally rich flavor of sweet corn and cinnamon, layered with peach, apricot, cherry, vanilla and caramel, and rounded by a bold cask-strength oak finish.
The cream Lexington label makes it a fine gift for bourbon lovers.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
