Trail's End is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon aged 8 years in charred new American oak, then finished with Oregon oak in Hood River, Oregon, and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Trail's End follows the path of the Oregon Trail: premium barrels of Kentucky straight bourbon travel west to Hood River, near the end of the trail, where the whiskey is finished with toasted Oregon (Garry) oak and proofed with glacier-fed spring water. The Oregon oak is air dried for a minimum of three years, which tightens the grain and softens the wood and bitter tones.
Floral honeysuckle, apricot, spearmint and orange blossom meet roasted hazelnut, cereal sweetness and chocolate on the nose. On the palate, the Oregon oak brings vanilla bean, fall fruit and nuts that complement notes of chocolate and sarsaparilla, finishing long and warm.
An ultra-premium bourbon with a Pacific Northwest twist.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
Straight bourbon must age at least two years in new charred oak.
Oregon white oak is known locally as Garry oak.
A splash of water opens up the fruit and hazelnut.
