Traverse City Whiskey Co. was born in northern Michigan when co-founder Chris discovered his great-grandfather's old patents for distilling whiskey on the family's cherry farm. That discovery sparked three friends, Chris, Jared and Moti, to build something close to their hearts: a small-batch whiskey company that bottles not only great whiskey but also the friendly, adventurous spirit of Up North Michigan. What began as a humble idea in 2011 is still guided by the values that started it: follow your passion, support your friends and neighbors, and do things with a quality you would be proud to show your family, or don't do them at all.
The Barrel Proof Wheat is aged six years and made from a mash of 95% wheat and 5% malted barley. Wheat gives the whiskey a distinct lightness and sweetness, and bottling it uncut at full barrel proof preserves every bit of that character. Proof varies batch to batch.
Soft floral notes lead, with vanilla, graham cracker and honey butter, followed by honey and caramel that give way to a light, bready spice and a smooth, sweet finish. Crafted to sip slowly and enjoy during life's defining moments, it rewards a splash of water or a little ice to find your sweet spot.
