Tres Generaciones Reposado is a triple-distilled 100% blue agave tequila rested in American oak barrels for at least four months, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
The story of the three Dons behind Tres Generaciones is the story of tequila itself. The tequila is still produced at La Perseverancia, the same distillery where Don Cenobio Sauza began everything in 1873. The agave is hand selected only when perfectly ripe and fresh-pressed, extracting the juice before it is cooked for reduced bitterness and a crisp agave character. It is then triple distilled for smoothness.
Bright gold, it opens with an initial spiciness of toasted oak over a background of herbs and fresh agave. Sweet and spicy on a smooth, round body, it delivers a warm, dry finish with lingering white pepper.
The green-and-gold stripe bottle makes it a classic gift.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
