Tromba XA is the first extra añejo from Tromba Tequila, aged for more than three years in American white oak. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Tromba was co-founded by Eric Brass with business school friends from Mexico and Australia and master distiller Marco Cedano, a veteran tequilero who crafts the brand's spirits in the Jalisco Highlands. The XA is presented in a tall, elegant bottle with a black presentation tube.
The nose brings vanilla, aged wood, caramelised agave, cherry and citrus, with dried fruit and dark chocolate. The palate is dense and mellow, with dried fruit, nuts, agave sweetness and warm spice, and the finish is long and warming with strong wood.
It is a refined gift for lovers of well-aged tequila.

Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
