Tumbleroot is a woman-owned brewery and distillery in Santa Fe that makes its spirits from scratch, using all-natural, organic and wild-harvested base ingredients. Because it is distilled in the United States rather than Mexico, it is called an agave spirit rather than tequila. The reposado is rested on oak, and as oxygen and time do their work the spirit mellows and smooths out, picking up wood flavors and hints of vanilla.
Like its sister Plata, the Reposado shows robust fruit, smoke and spice, balancing bright agave with subtle oak and vanilla for a sophisticated, smooth pour.
The navy Southwestern label makes it a unique gift.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
