Uncharted Whisky Co. Bat Out of Hell is a 13-year-old single cask Highland single malt from the Macduff distillery, matured in a refill oloroso sherry butt and bottled in 2024 at cask strength, 60% ABV. Only 60 bottles were produced.
Uncharted Whisky Co. is an independent bottler based in Fintry, Scotland, run by Jack Breslin and Dana de Vos, and its releases are named after famous musicians, songs and albums. Bat Out of Hell is a nod to this cask's massive proof and wild personality. Macduff sits on the North Sea coast and is known for a rich, fruit-forward spirit, most often bottled as Glen Deveron.
The nose shows bright caramel, cereal and malt, butteriness and toffee, with dried lemon rind. The palate is zingy, weighty and spirit-forward, with boiled barley sweets, cloves and spice from European oak, and the finish is long and rounded, with dried apricot and lemon rind settling into the oaky spice.
With just 60 bottles, it is a rare find for collectors of independent Scotch.
