Voerzio Martini Barolo is a Barolo DOCG from La Morra, made from 100% Nebbiolo of the Michet variety, at 14% ABV.
The grapes come from the La Serra and Boiolo vineyards in La Morra, planted in 1971 at about 400 metres, facing south and southeast on the clay, fine sand and limestone marls of Sant'Agata.
Three to four green harvests by hand keep yields low, and the grapes are hand-picked into small crates.
The estate was founded in La Morra by Gianni Voerzio and is now led by winemakers Mirko and Federica Martini.
Expect red cherry, rose, tar and spice with firm, fine tannins, a classic Barolo for the table or the cellar.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
