Volcán de mi Tierra X.A, for Xtra Assemblage, is a unique blend of ages: a reposado base married with añejo and extra añejo tequilas, all made from 100% blue agave. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Volcán is made at Agrotequilera de Jalisco (NOM 1523) in Huaxtla, in the Tequila Valley, in the shadow of the Tequila volcano that gives the brand its name. The distillery combines a traditional tahona stone wheel with a modern roller mill and ferments with Champagne yeast. In X.A, the reposado base brings sweetness and smoothness, while the añejo and extra añejo add aromatic elegance and complexity, a subtle recipe kept by the master distiller.
Three layers of ageing unveil a very smooth profile, with a perfect balance of cooked agave, hints of spice and sweet aromas of vanilla, caramel and dried fruits.
The tall, black-to-gold bottle is a striking gift and centrepiece.
Sip it neat or over a large ice cube.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
