Whiskey Del Bac Classic is a true American single malt from Hamilton Distillers in Tucson, Arizona, borrowing from the Scottish model but matured in new American white oak, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV) and never chill filtered.
Classic is made from 100% barley malt that is mashed, fermented, copper pot-distilled, aged and bottled on site. Modelled after a Highland or Speyside Scotch, the Classic is the unsmoked expression, without the smoke of Islay-style whiskies.
It opens with bright stone fruit, caramel, molasses and marzipan on the nose, ripe stone fruit up front on the palate, and a balanced finish of sweet caramel, oak, spice and honey.
Named one of the best whiskies in the world on Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Spirits list in 2021, it makes a fine gift.
Pour it and let it rest in the glass for a few minutes before tasting.
American whiskey covers a wide range of styles, from bourbon and rye to single malts and light whiskeys, and independent blenders and small producers have made it one of the most exciting categories in spirits.
American single malt whisky is made from 100% malted barley at a single distillery in the United States.
New American white oak gives a single malt more vanilla and caramel than the used casks typical in Scotland.
Arizona's desert heat and big temperature swings drive the whiskey deep into the wood as it matures.
