WhistlePig PiggyBack Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber is a limited single barrel release of WhistlePig's six-year-old, 100% rye PiggyBack, made in partnership with the Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber and bottled at cask strength. This barrel is 100.8 proof (50.39% ABV).
The twist comes from Finnish Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas. After ageing in new American oak, the rye rests in barrels that once held his Oath Gin, and that short gin finish adds a light juniper and citrus edge to the spicy rye. Each bottle captures the high-octane spirit of the racetrack, with the precision and power of the F1 team.
Pour a glass and rye spice comes first, with caramel and toffee close behind and a hint of juniper and dried citrus peel on top. On the palate it turns bolder, with black pepper, rye spice and vanilla, while toasted oak, dark fruit and baking spice fill out the mid-palate. The finish is long and warm, with sweet oak and a last touch of pine and citrus.
