WhistlePig Snout to Tail is a 10-year-old straight bourbon, aged a full decade in new charred oak and finished in barrels fitted with two differently toasted heads, bottled at 88 proof (44% ABV).
Each finishing barrel carries a medium-toasted Vermont oak head, the snout, and a smoked maple head, the tail. Both are exposed to the whiskey during finishing, layering toasted oak and maple smoke over the mature bourbon. Released as the counterpart to WhistlePig's 10 Year Rye, it brings the Vermont farm distillery's barrel craft to bourbon.
The nose offers honey, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted cashew and subtle citrus. The palate brings sweet caramel, roasted almond, baked cornbread and gentle oak spice, and the finish lingers with butterscotch, cedar, wheat bread crust and warm spice.
