WhistlePig The Boss Hog XI: The Juggernaut is the eleventh edition of WhistlePig's celebrated annual release, a single-barrel, cask-strength straight rye inspired by India. Released in October 2024, it was aged in new American oak and then finished in experimental barrels seasoned with the spices of Thandai, a traditional Indian drink of milk, nuts and spice.
To create the finish, WhistlePig seasoned its barrels with aged rye whiskey blended with saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, fennel, poppy seed and black peppercorn. Those spices meet the rye's own allspice, clove and black pepper, building a whiskey of unusual depth in which warm baking spice and over-ripe orchard fruit play against each other.
Like every Boss Hog, The Juggernaut is drawn from a single barrel and bottled at its natural proof, so the strength varies slightly from barrel to barrel across a range of 103.8 to 105.2 proof; this bottle is 104.5 proof. In keeping with the theme, the famous pewter pig that crowns every Boss Hog bottle is reimagined here as an Indian elephant.
