Wild Common Reposado is an additive-free 100% blue Weber agave tequila lightly aged in used American bourbon barrels, bottled at 43% ABV.
It is made by master distiller Salvador "Chava" Rosales Trejo at the Cascahuín distillery (NOM 1123) in Jalisco. Building on the foundation of the Wild Common Blanco, made with traditional brick oven roasting, natural wild yeast fermentation and double distillation in copper pots, the reposado rests in hand-selected bourbon barrels, developing warmth, depth and subtle sweetness while preserving its vibrant agave core.
The resting brings notes of cooked agave, fresh roasted pecans and raw honey, with vanilla, light caramel and soft oak, and a rounded, warming finish.
A sustainable, honest reposado, it makes a fine gift for tequila lovers.
Sip it neat, or use it in a reposado margarita.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
A reposado, meaning rested, is aged between two months and one year in oak, long enough to take on colour and gentle wood character while keeping the agave bright.
Cascahuín, a family distillery in El Arenal in Jalisco's Tequila Valley, is widely respected for its traditional methods.
