WildRye Five Drops 10th Anniversary is a Montana straight bourbon whiskey from WildRye Distilling in Bozeman, finished in port wine casks and bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof).
It builds on the recipe and Montana ingredients of the distillery's flagship Five Drops Montana Straight Bourbon.
The port casks add deep, dark fruit flavours and a silky texture, with ripe cherry, fig and a ruby-hued richness.
This limited release celebrates a decade of production, and of ageing spirits in Montana's high-altitude, semi-arid climate.
WildRye has been named Montana's most awarded distillery, and its tasting room sits on East Oak Street in Bozeman, gateway to Yellowstone country. The 10th Anniversary bottle, with its ruby whiskey and silver capsule, is a fine gift for a bourbon lover or anyone with a soft spot for Big Sky country.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
