The Rye Project Volume One, Batch Two is a collaboration between Wolves Whiskey and Kentucky's Willett Family Estate, a blend of straight rye whiskeys bottled unfiltered at barrel strength, 114.7 proof. It brings together two very different ryes: a low-rye whiskey of 51% rye aged six years in new American oak, and high-rye whiskey of 74% rye from Willett's own barrels.
Willett is one of the most celebrated family distilleries in Kentucky, and its master distiller worked with Wolves to select the barrels for this series. Marrying a soft, sweeter 51% rye with Willett's spicy, robust 74% rye mash bill creates a whiskey with both depth and lift, and bottling it unfiltered at full strength keeps all of its texture.
The Rye Project was conceived as a series of rye expressions anchored by that six-year-old low-rye whiskey, with each batch built around barrels chosen by the two master distillers. Batch Two was bottled at barrel strength and left unfiltered, so it is fuller and more intense than the first batch.
The bottle carries the Wolves and Willett names together on a cream label with an ornate crest, and the wooden stopper is branded with a W. It is a collectable for fans of either house and a fine gift for any rye lover.
