Woodinville Straight Bourbon is a pot-distilled, small-batch Washington straight bourbon made from grain grown exclusively for the distillery on the Omlin family farm in Quincy, bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Over five years in the making, Woodinville's straight bourbon starts with traditionally grown corn, rye and malted barley (72% corn, 22% rye, 6% malted barley), all cultivated exclusively for Woodinville on the Omlin family farm in Quincy, Washington. The grains are mashed and distilled at the Woodinville distillery, then trucked back over the Cascade Mountains for barreling and aging in private barrel houses, where Central Washington's extreme temperatures drive maturation. Founded in 2010 by Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile, Woodinville has been named Craft Whiskey of the Year by the American Distilling Institute.
Rich aromas of crème brûlée and spice cabinet lead to decadent notes of caramel, dark chocolate and vanilla bean on the palate, with brown sugar and spice.
The vintage farm label makes it a great gift for craft whiskey fans.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
